Massive 3 5/8" Long Eisenberg Fur
Clip-Art Deco Extreme! A Real Stunner!!

One of The Most Striking Pieces we
will ever Offer for Sale!
Finding this piece forced me to sit down and take
another crash course on Eisenberg, as I couldn't believe that I could be
so lucky as to find a piece this large. It's a Fur Clip of amazing
proportions, and in strikingly good condition considering it's age.
It's an honor to own...and a pleasure to offer to you here today on
Discerning Blonde.
Measuring in at 3 5/8" long by 1 1/4" wide, this Fur
Clip is an excellent example of early Eisenberg Deco Extreme. I
can't even begin to count how many stones are in it! It has a
slight arc near the actual clip that gives the clip extra dimension.
It is decorated with all clear crystal stones varying in shapes of round
and square. The metal is silver tone, and I cannot find a
silver mark on it. It's most likely pot metal since there is no
Sterling Mark. It has the look and feel of pot metal--very heavy!
This is just one of the best pieces of jewelry!!! Please see the
oodles of photo's we've taken of it below in all angles.
Unfortunately, the signature on this pin is so worn that
it's not easily viewable. I've put a picture of the signature up
for review on a number of costume jewelry boards, and have received
mixed reactions. While all people agree that this is a great piece
of Eisenberg, about half believe that the mark on it is what's left of
the script Eisenberg "E" mark, and the other half believe that it is a
worn number "3", which would be indicative of the number of the person
who was the stone-setter for this particular piece. Me personally,
I teeter totter every time I see the mark. I estimate this Clip to
have been made just prior to 1941 when the US entered WWII, (possibly
mid 1930's) as indicated by the use of pot metal. During the war,
pot metal was not used for jewelry, but rather for guns and ammunition
for the war. Sterling jewelry was much more common during that
point in history. Please understand that this dating is a guess,
as the signature's condition makes precise dating impossible.
Condition: I grade this piece to be in
Very Good Vintage Condition. There is some yellowing of
several of the smaller round stones that adorn the inside arc of the
piece, but this is perfectly normal for a piece of jewelry that is most
likely 65+ years old. There is a single stone that has a flea bite
taken out of the side near the very top of the brooch. It's barely
noticeable until you are looking for it. The back has a lot
of nooks and cranny's that would benefit from a serious cleaning.
Antique jewelry doesn't get much better than this piece!
