Exceptional Signed "Weiss" Juliana Style Brooch with Unusual Bi- Colored Stones

Purple Amethyst Art Glass and Aurora Borealis Stones!

Wow, now this is a VERY different Brooch designed by one of the Masters of Costume Jewelry!!  This signed Weiss Brooch is unquestionably one of the most unusual pieces I've ever seen by the maker, and I'm certain that it is not one of the fakes that has been flooding E-bay lately.   I have submitted this piece to the "Discovering Juliana Jewelry" group, and they have verified now that this is NOT a "Weiss" Brooch made By DeLizza and Elster, but that it was in fact manufactured by some other company.

Set in a  gold tone metal with all prong set stones, this brooch is 2 3/4" wide at it's widest point by 1 1/2" tall.  It is double layered with the top layer consisting of two very large bi-colored blue and purple amethyst striped stones.  If you look at the photo above, you can see the blue stripes at each end of the large stones, with the larger purple stripe running down the center of the stones. Also on the top layer is a large deep purple Aurora Borealis Chaton.  The second layer consists of a variety of purple/amethyst colored stones, including A/B amethyst navettes, purple chatons, and those unusual zebra-print purple art glass stones.  The effect is magnificent!

There is a soldered on signature plaque on the back which simply reads "Weiss" in all capital letters.

Condition:  i would grade this brooch to be in VERY GOOD Vintage Condition.  This brooch is set in a gold tone metal with Rhodium finish in great shape with very little scratching and only minor pitting.  The pinback is straight, but there is a bit of play in it.  The center settings on the back are a real bear to get clean, but once cleaned I think that they will look almost brand new as well.
